About Women’s Eye (WE)

The predecessor of our organization, RQ Women’s Support Center (RQW), was established on June 1, 2011, by a group of volunteers who had gathered after the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami on March 11, 2011, to work for and give support to the people of the disaster-struck areas.  Since then, our activities have been centered around Tome City, Minamisanriku-cho and kesennuma City in Miyagi Prefecture.

To further continue various activities and maintain the organization in a more stable condition, we have decided to apply for the Status of Specified Non-Profit Corporation, and were granted the status on May 27, 2013.

Upon this acquisition, the name of our organization changed to Specified Non-Profit Corporation Women’s Eye (WE) as of June 4, 2013.

Our mission is to create opportunities and chances for the women in our activity areas to participate in various activities, where they can cultivate new fields, places and human networks that will enable them to fully utilize their capacity. We’d like to be a helping hand for them to become the active players in rebuilding their own lives and communities. We, Women’s Eye, value the viewpoint of women, who are pillars of everyday life.
